Pedagogue

Stephanie Keegan-Moring has more than two decades of experience as a vocal music educator. She embraces the teaching of multiple styles of singing and draws on her pedagogical expertise in a variety of settings including the private voice studio, as a vocal coach for musical theatre productions, and as a singing consultant for contemporary commercial music artists.

In 2012, Stephanie was given a governor’s commendation “for inspiring creativity and innovation in students,” and in 2019, her colleagues honored her with the OK Music Association’s Exemplary Teaching Award in the vocal division. Stephanie currently teaches voice at NYU and maintains private voice studios in both New York City and Oklahoma City.

Stephanie holds an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University and a master’s degree in music education and vocal performance from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has done post-graduate work in vocal pedagogy at the Eastman School of Music, is certified in all three levels of Somatic Voicework TM, and recently completed Oklahoma City University’s Advanced Vocal Pedagogy Institute under the guidance of Kevin Wilson. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance, and the National Association for Music Education.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy centers on helping each student develop a healthy, expressive, and sustainable voice while pursuing their individual goals as singers and musicians. Because every voice and artistic path is unique, I tailor instruction to support each student’s aspirations while fostering technical growth and musical curiosity. I approach teaching holistically, recognizing that vocal development is connected to physical awareness, mental focus, emotional expression, and personal confidence.

My pedagogy is grounded in evidence-based vocal science, integrating current research with practical strategies that help students build efficient, reliable technique and sustainable vocal habits. Through individualized instruction and a supportive studio environment, I aim to cultivate confident, versatile singers equipped for lifelong music-making.

From Students

Working with Stephanie has been a genuine pleasure. I am a trans man taking testosterone, so my voice has been changing a ton. Instead of feeling lost or frustrated by that process, she helped me understand it and work with those changes. She also helped me build my range, refine my technique, and build my confidence. I truly cannot recommend her enough.

All of the vocalists of Ghoul A.D highly recommend Stephanie Moring for vocal coaching. We sing anything from soaring melodic lines to screaming/growling and she has tackled it all with expertise, enthusiasm, and passion. She knows the human voice. Period. Her knowledge and intuition as well as her encouraging nature set her apart from other vocal coaches we have encountered. She's absolutely helped us take our vocals to the next level.
